The scenery here is all about rural vibes and agriculture, with plenty of <strong>cereal fields, banana plantations, and vineyards<\/strong>. The wine production in this area is among the most significant in the north of the island, proudly falling under the Tacoronte-Acentejo designation.<\/p>\n\n<p>The town gets its name from the second Battle of Acentejo, where the conquerors defeated the Guanches, marking the end of the conquest of the Canaries. To celebrate the victory in this battle, Alonso Fern\u00e1ndez de Lugo built a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Victory, which was replaced by a sturdier temple in 1578. Not long after, it became a pretty populated area, with small settlements relying on agriculture and livestock, which isn\u2019t as important today.
